Carraig View provides a safe, supportive and nurturing home for up to four children and young people in Port Glasgow. Our therapeutic and relationship-based environment helps children build confidence, independence and achieve positive outcomes.
As a Lead Children’s Worker you will create a stable and caring home that supports children and young people to feel listened to, valued and encouraged to thrive. You will help provide the consistency, care and encouragement they need to build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
What You Will Do
* Take a lead role during shifts, creating a calm, safe and nurturing home environment.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people, providing consistent care, guidance and emotional support.
* Support daily routines including meals, education, appointments, activities, hobbies and bedtime routines.
* Encourage independence, confidence and life skills, helping children achieve their individual goals and outcomes.
* Provide high‑quality personal care with dignity, compassion and respect.
* Act as a key worker, developing, implementing and reviewing care plans, risk assessments and support strategies.
* Support children during challenging moments with a therapeutic, relationship‑based approach.
* Work closely with families, education staff and external professionals to ensure joined‑up, person‑centred support.
* Lead by example, offering guidance to colleagues and maintaining high standards of care.
* Support the safe running of the home, including medication management, safeguarding and documentation.
* Encourage participation in activities, community opportunities and experiences supporting wellbeing.
* Contribute to a warm, welcoming and family‑style home where children feel cared for and encouraged to thrive.
What We Are Looking For
We seek someone with experience supporting children and young people, particularly those with additional support needs, in a residential or care setting. You should be confident taking responsibility within a team, calm, compassionate and resilient, with strong communication and organisational skills.
Essential qualifications:
* SVQ Level 3 in Social Care (Children) or HNC (SCQF Level 7).
* Registered with the SSSC and part of the PVG Scheme.
* Full manual driving licence.
We also require you to hold a Christian faith and be able to work within and uphold our Christian Ethos. This is an Occupational Requirement under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
