General Manager – Automotive – Manchester – £70k to £80k
Location: Manchester (On-site, 5 days per week)
Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 4:30/5:00pm // Friday: Finish around 3:00pm
Salary: £70k to £80k + Package

An established, engineering-led specialist vehicle conversion business operating across emergency services, defence, and commercial vehicle platforms. The company delivers complex, low-volume, high-specification vehicle programmes and is continuing to grow its engineering and manufacturing capability.
The business operates in a highly regulated environment and places strong emphasis on quality, safety, and technical compliance.
The Role
The General Manager will take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and operational management of the Manchester site.
Reporting directly to the Group CEO, this is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong technical production background combined with commercial awareness and customer-facing capability.
The successful candidate will oversee production operations, manage site personnel, support commercial activities and ensure customer requirements, delivery schedules and operational targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all day-to-day site operations
* Oversee production activities to ensure efficiency, quality and delivery performance
* Manage and support operational and production teams
* Drive operational improvements and business performance
* Work closely with customers and maintain strong working relationships
* Support commercial discussions around pricing, quotations and customer requirements
* Coordinate production schedules and resource planning
* Ensure operational targets and delivery deadlines are achieved
* Maintain high standards across health & safety, quality and operational compliance
* Support strategic planning and business growth initiatives alongside senior leadership
About You
* Strong technical production or manufacturing background
* Previous experience in a senior operational or site leadership role
* Commercially aware with strong customer-facing capability
* Experience managing teams within a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
* Able to operate effectively within a fast-paced hands-on environment
* Conversion industry background highly desirable
* Comfortable working fully on-site
