Hygiene Operative - Industrial Cleaning
Location: Bolton
Salary: £26,557 per annum
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week)
Shifts: Monday-Thursday (7pm-5am) + Saturday day shift
Pay: Weekdays: £12.21 per hour and Saturdays: £120 per day
About the Role:
Gi Group is recruiting on behalf of a specialist cleaning and decorating client in Bolton, serving the food manufacturing industry. We're seeking a Skilled Hygiene Operative to join their dedicated team on a permanent basis.
As a Specialist Hygiene Operative, you'll work within a fast-paced food production environment where cleanliness, safety, and precision are top priorities. Based on-site at our client's facility in Bolton, you'll be responsible for deep industrial cleaning, working at height, and maintaining strict hygiene standards across machinery, walls, and production areas.
You'll need to be physically fit, safety-conscious, and confident using access equipment like elevated work platforms and ladders. A solid understanding of COSHH and food safety protocols is essential, along with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform deep industrial cleaning of machinery, walls, and surfaces to strict hygiene standards
2. Operate access equipment (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, ladders, scaffolding) safely
3. Conduct surface prep and painting in industrial environments
4. Maintain accurate hygiene records and cleaning logs
5. Follow all health & safety and COSHH protocols
6. Conduct hygiene inspections and implement cleaning schedules
7. Train staff in hygiene practices and report any non-compliance
Requirements:
1. Valid Working at Height Certification (IPAF or PASMA - essential)
2. Average Height Certification (preferred or required by site)
3. Experience in industrial/factory hygiene and cleaning
4. Skills in painting and surface preparation
5. COSHH awareness and health & safety knowledge
6. Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
7. Previous food manufacturing experience (advantageous)
