About The Role
The Environmental Team is recruiting early‑career Environmental Engineers and Environmental Specialists. If you enjoy a fast‑paced work environment and developing technical approaches to support a wide range of projects, we would love to hear from you.
You will work as part of a highly skilled team, collaborating with a wide variety of clients on projects in the energy industry. Our experienced professionals provide multidisciplinary expertise in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, management and permitting. The Genesis Environment Team includes engineers, marine biologists, chemists, geologists and GIS specialists.
As the energy transition accelerates, we are working with clients on projects spanning traditional oil & gas and new sectors such as hydrogen, carbon capture and storage and offshore wind. These challenges foster closer collaboration between engineering and environmental teams, and we are growing our existing team to support these exciting projects.
You will support environmental assessments and studies for projects in the UK and overseas, both onshore and offshore. We expect you to contribute across the following areas:
* Carbon management, energy efficiency and decarbonisation
* New energy technologies including hydrogen and ammonia
* Environmental impact assessment
* Environmental permitting and compliance
* Environmental modelling
The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental Delivery Team at Genesis, supporting a wide range of clients and interfacing with other discipline teams to provide environmental technical input on public and private projects in the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities include
* Executing environmental studies and assessments including application of the environmental impact assessment process and assessment of best available techniques in line with regulatory and client‑specific requirements
* Characterisation and quantification of emissions and discharges for the energy sector
* Supporting clients with reporting and compliance requirements related to both offshore and onshore operations
* Providing input to HAZID/ENVID reviews and multi‑disciplinary engineering projects
* Setting up, running and interpreting the output from a range of models (oil spill, drill cuttings, marine discharges, noise and air) with assistance from the Genesis modelling team
* Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, proposals and presentation materials for clients
* Identification and interpretation of relevant regulations and standards
* Interacting with clients to ensure delivery of requirements to agreed scope, schedule and budget
About You – Skills and experience required
The successful applicant must
* Have a degree in a relevant science, engineering or environmental subject
* Have an awareness of environmental legislation
* Have an awareness of the environmental impact assessment process
* Be a strong team player
* Be well‑motivated and able to work to tight deadlines
* Have excellent written skills with attention to detail
* Be able to think innovatively
* Be computer‑literate, including proficiency with standard MS Office software
It would be great if you also have
* Experience using GIS to analyse data and prepare graphics for reports
* Knowledge of software development using Python, Fortran, C, MATLAB or similar
* Knowledge of a range of sectors such as oil & gas operations, onshore/offshore wind, infrastructure projects, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage
