PART TIME FAMILY ENGAGEMENT OFFICER
September 2026 – July 2027
18 hours per week – term time only
Salary: Grade 7 – £28,142 x 42.73%
Blaengwawr Primary School is situated in the community of Aberaman in Aberdare and currently have 225 pupils on roll aged between 3 and 11. The school has strong links with the community and a supportive, pro-active governing body.
Our school motto is that ‘Every day is a good day to learn something new’ and this is an important motto for us as staff as well as pupils.
The Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inspirational, community focused, caring and enthusiastic person to join our staff team in the autumn term as Family Engagement Officer (FEO). This post will be for 18 hours per week during term time. The FEO will work alongside the senior leadership team and school clerk to engage with and support our Blaengwawr families and develop further links with the community.
We are looking for a Family Engagement Officer to:-
•Work closely with the staff team to promote our culture of high expectations, particularly in the areas of attendance, behaviour and pupil wellbeing
•Develop and sustain effective partnerships with families, build positive relationships that promote engagement in all aspects of school life
•Monitor attendance, identifying patterns of concern and working closely with families to improve attendance and punctuality
•Design and deliver family engagement activities, including workshops, events and opportunities that strengthen home-school communication and promote parental involvement
•Provide early targeted support to families and signpost appropriate external services that will support their needs
•Contribute to the preparation and management of grant applications
•Develop a Parent Council with representatives from across the school
In addition, the successful candidate will need to:
•Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•Have proven experience and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, or have worked within a community-focused role
•Have experience of multi-agency working
•Show initiative, be motivated, and have strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
•Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils
•Be a team player who works productively with colleagues
•Contribute to the wider life of the school.
