G2 Energy is looking for an experienced Project Manager specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Have you successfully managed multiple BESS projects simultaneously? G2 is looking for a Major Projects Director to join their team and oversee the implementation of their multi-gigawatt portfolio.
To thrive in this role, candidates must bring substantial expertise in Project Management. A minimum of 10 years' experience in the field is essential, with no less than 5 years dedicated specifically to managing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. This depth of experience ensures a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and requirements associated with BESS initiatives.
Applicants should also demonstrate experience in line management, as the position may require the supervision and leadership of a team of Project Managers. The ability to effectively guide, support, and oversee team members is a critical aspect of the role.
Successful candidates will have a proven history of delivering multiple grid-scale projects concurrently, showcasing their capacity to manage complex workloads and competing priorities. In addition, a thorough grasp of all facets of Project Management is required, encompassing performance monitoring,
* Manage the a to meet the key programme milestones and the requirements of the employer deliverables in line with agreed company procedures and best practice
* Ensure the major project delivery team and individual projects are suitably resourced in line with work load and budget
* Proactively manage, coach, mentor and develop team members to enhance personal growth, technical skills and knowledge
* Responsible for approving the scope of works, the plan and the target cost for each element of the project the PM is assigned to
* Providing clear leadership to the project team and also controlling the activities of the team against budget
* Accountable for ensuring safe management and system of work are deployed by all personnel involved on the project and accountable for establishing effective controls of the site construction activities
* Seek ways of optimising the resource plan in conjunction with other senior managers. Drive performance, actively seeking to improve and optimise delivery methods. Provide a professional and consistent approach for the management and execution of major projects
Job objectives and responsibilities
* To work alongside and provide direct support to the commercial team to ensure robust project cost controls, managing the profit and loss to agreed margins
* Own the Major Projects company procedures and drive continuous improvement
* Establish working relationships with senior client representative to ensure delivery of projects efficiently
* Carry out site inspections as appropriate and agree bench marks on quality
* Manage safety, health and environmental matters proactively in accordance with the business policy statement, corporate guidelines and statutory legislation
* Conduct regular safety audits and assist, if required, in preparation of risk assessments, method statements and investigations into accidents and near misses
* Produce regular reports to the G2 SLT with such documentation shall include key performance indicators and a summary of the progress with business objectives
* Demonstrate effective individual and collective SHE leadership and promote enthusiastic SHE culture. Manage safety through early development incorporating life cycle designs that minimise risk to personnel
* HSQE Champion
* Ensure company HR policies and procedures are implemented within the function and direct reports are regularly reviewed
Person Specification
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Project
* Extensive experience in project management
* Formal training and/or qualifications in project management
* Min 5 years Electrical Experience within project management on 132 kV Networks
* Electrical Qualification (HNC/HND minimum) – desirable to hold a degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
* Ideally be experienced SAP to 33kV
* Good written, verbal and presentation skills
* Self motivated, enthusiastic and able to motivate staff to meet tight deadlines
* Supportive team player with the ability to positively interact with both technical and commercially orientated staff, possibly outside own area of expertise
* Excellent influencing and communication skills coupled with the ability to engage with staff at all levels in the organisation
* Versatile, adaptable, willing to learn and impart skills on to others
