Join The Manchester College as a Specialist Technician (Science) and play a vital role in supporting outstanding science education. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to prepare and maintain lab equipment, materials, and resources for practical experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and a passion for science to thrive in an educational setting. Previous experience in a laboratory or educational environment is desirable. A proactive, safety-conscious approach is essential, along with the ability to support learners and staff alike. We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw campus to join our Sport Public Services & Care Professions Department as a Specialist Technician (Science) on a permanent, part time (17.5 hours per week) basis.

Our Openshaw campus is a vibrant, modern hub of learning, equipped with outstanding, industry-standard facilities designed to inspire both staff and students. Located just outside Manchester city centre, the campus offers a wide range of vocational and academic courses, with specialist spaces for areas such as construction, engineering, health, and digital.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

7. Level 2 English & Mathematics
8. Industry relevant qualification as applicable by specialist function
9. First Aid qualification (or be prepared to work towards within first year)
10. Specific relevant industry experience
11. Specific relevant specialist skill
12. Ideally lab science background
13. Ability to work as a team or individually
14. Working to deadlines
