Haematology Lead Biomedical Scientist

The University Hospital of North Midlands, Mid Cheshire and East Cheshire NHS Trusts are working collaboratively as a Pathology network, North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS). A further development of the network is progressing to include Shrewsbury and Telford NHS trust and Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital. Lead Biomedical Scientist Haematology (Leighton and Macclesfield) Are you looking for a new challenge? We are seeking applications from suitably qualified, self-motivated and enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with appropriate experience in Haematology for the role of Lead BMS Haematology for the Leighton and Macclesfield hospital sites. As Lead BMS, you will provide expert and operational leadership for the Leighton and Macclesfield Haematology laboratories, and collaborate with the team at the Royal Stoke University Hospital (RSUH) to ensure the delivery of the NMCPS network model.


Main duties of the job

Based at either Leighton or Macclesfield Hospital you will be required to work across both sites in order to effectively deliver the Haematology laboratory service. There will also be a requirement to work at the RSUH periodically. The ability to manage and prioritise a complex workload with rapidly changing demands is vital, along with providing effective leadership and motivation for the whole Leighton and Macclesfield Haematology team. The post holder is required to provide effective operational management in line with Trust policies and procedures; this will include responsibility for continuing quality improvement to maintain UKAS accreditation and overall performance of the service. The role will include ensuring all training, health and safety and quality management requirements are appropriate and implemented, including monitoring the department\'s finances. In addition to line management, the Lead BMS is responsible for relationships with internal and external stakeholders from clinical teams to suppliers. You will lead by example and will be expected to maintain your scientific and technical expertise as a BMS.

Qualifications

* Educated to degree level.
* Evidence of higher level study at Masters Level; Alternatively working knowledge and experience at an equivalent level.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, access and Power-point.
* Professional training delivery qualification or equivalent experience of delivering and facilitating in challenging environments.
* Portfolio of certified/accredited professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas.
* Experience and/or qualifications in the specific area Organisational Development.
* Quality Improvement qualification - Improving together level 1-3 or external equivalent. Eg LCS lavel 1a.
