04th June, 2026 Finance Manager / Financial Controller £60,000 to £80,000 DOE Cambridge A high-growth Cambridge-based residential and commercial construction group is looking to recruit into a newly created senior finance role, offering full responsibility for the finance function and direct reporting to the Directors. This opportunity is suited to a proactive, hands-on finance professional who enjoys operating across both day-to-day activities and higher-level strategic input within a growing organisation. The role will be instrumental in strengthening financial governance, delivering reliable reporting, managing liquidity, and providing insight to support senior leadership decision-making. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the overall finance function Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts Lead cashflow planning and ongoing monitoring across group accounts including intercompany transactions Develop budgets and support longer-term financial planning WIP reporting and performance analysis Working with senior leadership to aid strategic planning providing clear financial insights to Directors and key stakeholders Oversee transactional finance, including purchase and sales ledgers Administer and reconcile CIS processes Ensuring full regulatory compliance with HMRC including Corporation tax and VAT Complete bank reconciliations and review balance sheet integrity Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and controls Assist with year-end processes and liaise with external advisors Manage payroll operations and ensure appropriate controls are in place Track project performance, focusing on margin and cost control Responsibility for enhancing processes and procedures to aid continued efficiency across the group Candidate Profile Professionally qualified or qualified by experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Demonstrable experience in a similar senior finance role Background in the construction sector would be advantageous Strong knowledge of CIS and subcontractor payment processes Experience overseeing payroll functions Commercially focused with strong analytical capability Effective communicator with the ability to influence and lead Experience with Xero or similar accounting systems is beneficial What's on Offer Opportunity to join a business with strong growth plans Direct exposure to senior leadership and decision-making Ability to shape and enhance finance processes Highly competitive remuneration package with profit share potential This is a fantastic opportunity to take full ownership of a finance function within a high-growth environment.
