Overview
Join the Radiotherapy department as a Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship trainee, training to meet the clinical and academic requirements of a therapeutic radiographer.
Responsibilities
* Perform a range of radiotherapy duties and procedures under the supervision of a qualified therapeutic radiographer at all times.
* Ensure the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRMER 2017), associated codes of practice and guidance notes, and the Health and Safety at Work Act are understood and adhered to in respect of staff, patients and the public.
* Work within the boundaries of existing competence, adhering to the UHCW Radiation Safety Policy and national and local standard operating procedures/protocols.
* Assist in the daily workload of the department, liaising with the portering service, administration staff and other members of the MDT to facilitate the coordination of patient appointments.
* Complete clerical and administrative duties in compliance with department protocols.
* Identify the patient as per trust policy.
* Under the supervision of a registered practitioner, safely operate radiotherapy equipment in both the treatment areas and the pre-treatment area.
* Under the supervision of a registered practitioner, carry out machine QA.
* Report any malfunctions or breakdown of equipment to the appropriate staff.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the trainee will gain a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic radiography and will be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Therapeutic Radiographer.
Applicants are required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP. Sponsorship is not eligible for this post.
