Overview
This well‑established specialist design consultancy is part of a large utilities contractor group. It focuses on structural design for projects in the power industry, including power networks and substations. The role is for a graduate engineer who is a hands‑on structural design engineer.
Responsibilities
You will be providing complex design solutions for a range of projects, such as substation design, battery storage facilities, design of blast‑resistant buildings, switch houses, GIS buildings, buildings to house transformer cells, and specialist steelwork structures and supports underground and inside tunnels to carry heavy power cables. Projects include refurbishment and new builds, typically involving steel, concrete, and masonry, ranging from small projects to multi‑million‑pound schemes. The role will include some travel to sites in London and the South East and a pool car may be provided.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will be high‑calibre graduates with up to five years of experience in structural design. Recent graduates with a strong attitude and a real desire for engineering design work will also be considered. Experience in the power sector would be highly advantageous.
