Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you enthusiastic about training a new generation of Pharmacists, while continuing to develop your clinical expertise?

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward thinking advanced clinical pharmacist to lead the pharmacy service, provided to a medical area at Prince Philip Hospital and a teacher practitioner at Swansea University, to deliver and support the MPharm course. The post will be split spending 2 days a week working at the University's Singleton Campus and 3 days a week in the acute hospital. The post is full time, but part time and job share applications will be considered.

We are a patient-centred and progressive team, who work closely with the multidisciplinary teams, enhancing patient safety through professional advice to prescribers, discharge planning and attending consultant ward rounds. We continually drive innovation and staff development, to support the pharmacy service and allow more time to support direct patient care. You will be part of the exciting rollout of EPMA supporting colleagues across the MDT, as we embed digital systems within our practice.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated individual, who is passionate about improving training and education of Pharmacists. At the university you will be part of the Pharmacy team, contributing to the delivery of the MPharm programme and the provision of pastoral and professional support to students.

As an advanced Pharmacist you will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of a patient focused clinical pharmacy service. The successful candidate will work within general medical wards, developing their pharmacist role with potential to develop in pharmacist led clinics as an IP.

You will work with the multidisciplinary team, monitoring financial expenditure, undertaking research and service improvement, alongside supporting the core pharmacy services in the dispensary and on wards. As a teacher practitioner, you will ensure pharmacy undergraduates develop the professional, clinical and patient centred skills throughout their training. You will deliver lectures and workshops and play an important role in the evaluation of clinical, pharmacy practice and professional skills. Working closely with colleagues in the Practice of Pharmacy Teaching Group, you will also support the administration of the course.

As part of our friendly and passionate pharmacy team you will contribute to the implementation of medicines optimisation. Provide a specialist and professional service, to enable us to meet high standards of patient care and safety.


About us

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

The post requires a highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication, decision making and problem-solving skills. The innovative and friendly pharmacy team is well established within the health board. Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge

* Registered Pharmacist with GPhC
* Postgraduate MSc or Diploma in area of practice or equivalent experience or qualifications
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
* Membership of specialist body e.g. UKCPA.
* Post-graduate teaching qualification or equivalent experience
* Accredited foundation or post foundation supervisor
* Demonstrable specialist knowledge in more than one field


Experience

* Specialist knowledge of medicines management systems and process in an integrated NHS
* Knowledge and experience of healthcare
* Specialist knowledge of own field of practice gained through diploma level training and experience
* Practice Research Experience
* Training and education of pharmacy staff and other HCPs
* Experience of managing change
* Experience of service improvement


Other

* Flexible approach to needs of the service to undertake on call work, weekend and evening opening.
* Welsh speaker (Level 1)

£54,550 to £61,412 a yearper annum (pro rata if part time)
