What You’ll Do
Join Cingularity’s events team as an Event Engineer, responsible for on‑site monitoring, support, and implementation of customer solutions for live broadcasts. The role is based in London (28 Hanbury Street, London, E1 6QR) with occasional travel to IMG Studios in Hayes (5 Longwalk Rd, Uxbridge) and worldwide events.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Pre‑Event Staging and Testing
* Pre‑stage and test equipment for events.
* Create, read, and interpret schematic and topology drawings based on customer requirements.
* Engage end customers in pre‑event meetings and discussions to ensure event success.
On‑site at Events
* Set up and perform all appropriate testing prior to transmission.
* Monitor event‑based equipment and associated customer video and data services.
* Provide direct support to customers on‑site.
* Collaborate with partners and suppliers via phone and e‑mail for service issues and other inquiries.
* Log all daily events so end‑of‑day reports can be produced after transmissions.
Knowledge and Experience
Engineering Capabilities
* Work under pressure on live broadcast events.
* Work long hours in line with live event transmission schedules.
* Problem‑solve on‑site during event‑based broadcasts.
* Follow engineering and technical diagrams to rig onsite event solutions.
* Understand live TV broadcast environments and workflows.
Technical Knowledge and Experience
* Make coaxial and Ethernet (RJ45) cables.
* Knowledge of baseband video (SD‑SDI, HD‑SDI, UHD), audio, video routers, and multiviewers.
* Familiarity with optical fibre‑based technologies and troubleshooting deployments.
* Understand MPEG encoding/decoding (AVC/HEVC) and JPEG2000.
* Familiar with Net Insight products (Nimbra MSR, VA/N414) – desirable.
* Apply basic network configurations to equipment.
* Perform basic network troubleshooting of data/telemetry services.
* Experience as an event‑based broadcast engineer or similar role.
* Full driving licence.
Working Conditions
* This is a 3‑year fixed‑term contract.
* The role is based at 28 Hanbury St, London, E1 6QR.
* Must spend a considerable amount of time away supporting global events.
* Must work unsociable and extended hours to cover sporting events.
