Responsibilities
* Assessing the quality of a range of practice learning environments, determining interventions to sustain and enhance practice education; ensuring all service areas/placement providers have an up-to-date action plan in place, informing the annual quality monitoring of education contract.
* Supporting and facilitating the development of clinical practice educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors, providing supervision and support structures to build education in practice capability, consistency and efficiency.
* Leading on the structuring and coordination of interprofessional learning activity across service areas.
* Participating in Quality Assurance multiprofessional site visits across the footprint of GMMH.
* Implementing and embedding quality improvements into practice, including NHSE Safe Learning Environment Charter and the GM Health Care Learning Environment Strategy.
* Developing, co‑coordinating, evaluating, and implementing education programmes with Approved Education partners. For example, contributing to curriculum development, validation and review through the Annual Quality Review of the Education Contracts.
* Providing ongoing support and guidance to educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors and learners in practice areas.
* Lead on the structuring, design and delivery of interprofessional learning opportunities in practice.
* Work in partnership with the AEIs in the planning, delivery and review of development programmes for educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors.
* Identify opportunities where multiprofessional practice education and supervision can be facilitated in practice as a foundation for interprofessional learning to take place.
* Produce and maintain a portfolio of education in practice activity within service areas, e.g. student assessment, supervision and structured inter‑professional learning activities, teaching packages.
* Lead on the development, implementation and review of education in practice learning environments in line with educational standards, NHSE, NMC and HCPC.
* Prepare and support Practice Education Leads to perform educational audits/self‑assessments and support educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors in the delivery of education action plans.
* Undertake research and development relevant to education in practice and the clinical learning environment.
* Assess and benchmark clinical and other practice educational environments within own organisation and with key external partners.
* Develop and support educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors in decisions relating to the student experience including the achievement of learning outcomes, competence and fitness for practice.
* Identify shortfalls in educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors and facilitate access to student supervision and assessment, updates and training opportunities.
* Provide best practice advice in a clinical setting for educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors and staff in relation to education in practice.
* Identify outcomes of interprofessional learning experiences to facilitate the breadth of the student experience and evaluate the effectiveness of any change.
* Collaborate with the GM Higher / Approved Education Institutions to align new placement opportunities to learning outcomes.
* Contribute to the GM wider engagement framework in the delivery of defined clinical placement initiatives.
* Network locally, regionally and nationally with peer group to support the sharing of best practice.
* Act as an expert resource/Champion of Interprofessional Learning in Placement Providers.
* Communicate educational and practice information across placement providers and educational Institutions and undertake presentations relating to education in practice.
* Ensure communication channels are used appropriately to facilitate the flow of information between internal and external partners.
* Share best practice relating to Quality Assurance and Interprofessional Learning across placement providers.
* Produce reports as required by GM group.
* Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times in conjunction with organisational policies.
* Collaborate with key external partners in Higher Education Institutions to ensure academic rigor in practice learning is maintained.
* Participate in multi‑professional quality assurance monitoring of education in practice within own organisation and across organisational boundaries, aligned with the Learning and Development Agreement process.
* Continuously monitor practice‑learning activities against quality assurance standards enabling ongoing enhancement of the learning experience.
* Deliver key role outcomes as required in the education contract process.
* Develop and maintain up‑to‑date accurate records of educators, practice assessors and practice supervisors across the practice setting.
* Develop a process to inform and enable shared evidence and format to enhance the responsiveness and delivery of a single Quality Assurance process.
* Monitor numbers of failing students and student complaints to highlight trends and inform action planning.
* Liaise with Information Service departments within Placement Providers, including Library Services, to inform resource requirements and widen access to facilities.
