We are seeking additional trustees who can align with our Charity mission and purpose to provide hands-on training in kidney transplantation for health professionals in low and middle income countries.
What difference will you make?
Trustees bring a range of skills and experience to the Trustee Board and through this will ensure TLC is true to its mission to save the lives of children and adults with kidney failure by helping establish a kidney transplant service in their country.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals who wish to contribute to the continued successful work of TLC in its mission to improve the care of people with kidney failure who do not have access to kidney transplantation. We are seeking individuals with strategic insight, creative thinking and strong communications skills, problem solving ability, leadership and people skills and an understanding of financial planning and resource management. Previous experience as a Trustee, working with a charity or as a volunteer is very much desired, while any international development operations experience would be of significant benefit but not essential. We hope to attract individuals who bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role and to our purpose and mission and can exercise independent judgment while working collaboratively and effectively with fellow board members
What will you be doing?
Transplant Links works with NHS volunteers to provide hands-on training in kidney transplantation for surgeons, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals in low and middle income countries to allow patients with kidney failure have access to this life-saving treatment where it is not available. Through this transfer of skills, TLC saves the lives of children and adults who suffer from life-threatening end-stage kidney disease, and many more will benefit in the future through the development of successful kidney transplant programmes. This training is delivered in the form of hands-on surgical and medical assistance (in situ), delivering lectures and training seminars in the hospitals, providing ongoing long-term support and assistance in developing the infrastructure needed for a transplant programme, long-distance online learning in the form of videos, presentations, podcasts and online seminars and the development of written materials as well as facilitating UK based observerships and clinical placements. We work with partner centres over several years to support them to develop a sustainable, ethical transplant programme. This is an exciting time in TLC's development as we build on our established strengths and achievements, learn from our experiences, and aspire to grow and develop in future years. Having recently reviewed and updated our strategy we are now looking to strengthen and diversify our Board of Trustees, to help us achieve our goals.
