Job overview
You will work 22.5 hours per week as a Part-time Clinical Psychologist at Pinhoe View, a 36-bed Acute Inpatient Hospital in Exeter. You will lead the psychology department, work with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to offer patient-centred care, and implement daily activities to support recovery. You will assess service users, plan and deliver person-centred interventions, and continuously evaluate care and treatment. You will oversee the provision of the psychology service and support the team in assessment, formulation, interventions and psychology groups in collaboration with the team. There are opportunities for professional growth and development, with a regional network of healthcare professionals available for support. This role includes a welcome bonus of £5,000 and potential to extend the workdays from three to four.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the assessment of referrals and provide initial assessments for service users referred to the service.
* Undertake high-quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions and make autonomous clinical decisions.
* Work therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methods.
* Formulate and implement plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patients’ mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practice.
* Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.
* Maintain high standards of care in all areas of practice and in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Company Policies and Procedures.
Requirements
* BPS-recognised psychology degree(s).
* HCPC registration.
* Understanding of evidence-based psychological practice.
* Experience applying psychological knowledge to a clinical setting.
* Experience working with clients with cognitive deficits.
* Experience conducting research and project work.
Location
Location: Pinhoe View, College Way, Exeter, EX1 3PZ. Pinhoe View is a purpose-built facility providing mental health services for adults with acute conditions across two wards. The 24-hour inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team specialized in assessment, treatment and stabilization of significant mental health episodes and crises.
