🌟 Internal Communications Business Partner

Location: Hybrid, Lingley Mere, Warrington (2 -3 days in office)

Salary: Competitive + up to 20% bonus + ÂŁ5k car allowance

We’re looking for a seasoned Internal Communications Business Partner to lead our high performing team and strategic communications for our Commercial, Engineering, and Capital Delivery (CEC) functions. This is a senior level role with real influence. Your work will shape how thousands of colleagues in United Utilities and our supply chain partners understand our business goals, embrace change, and deliver exceptional service.

You’ll be the chief liaison between our enterprise supply chain partners and internal comms, translating complex priorities into clear, compelling narratives that drive engagement and alignment. 🔍 What You’ll Do

Strategic Partnership

* Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across CEC.
* Translate business priorities and transformation programmes into engaging, accessible communications.
* Advise on tone, channel strategy, and storytelling that resonates.
* Collaborate with supply chain and enterprise partners to amplify impact.
* Create the strategy for communication across our 100+ supply chain partners, for safety, delivery and landing the UU customer needs

Day to Day Communications

* Lead BAU comms: intranet stories, team briefs, leadership packs, and email updates.
* Align directorate messaging with company-wide narratives.
* Provide hands on support writing, editing, and shaping content for diverse audiences internally and externally.

Change Communications

* Design and deliver tailored comms plans for change initiatives.
* Help leaders build confidence and clarity across their teams.
* Monitor impact and adapt strategies based on feedback.

Collaboration & Integration

* Work closely with the Head of Colleague Communications to ensure message coherence.
* Share stories with Corporate Affairs and Customer Comms to boost brand reputation.
* Partner with HR, Transformation, and other functions to deliver timely, relevant updates.

Measurement & Innovation

* Track engagement and feedback, turning insights into action.
* Champion inclusive, accessible communications.
* Explore new formats and channels to keep our messaging fresh and effective.

🎯 What You’ll Bring

* Extensive experience in internal communications, employee engagement, and change comms.
* Proven ability to advise senior leaders and influence at all levels.
* Strategic thinker with strong planning and campaign management skills.
* Exceptional writing and storytelling ability to simplify complex topics.
* Highly organised, with a knack for juggling multiple priorities.
* Professional qualification in PR or internal communications (e.g. CIPR, CIIC) or equivalent experience
* Experience in regulated sectors such as utilities or energy.
* Familiarity with matrix organisations and multi-stakeholder environments.
* Skilled in producing content for internal channels: video, podcasts, intranet, email, etc.
* Understanding of change management principles and their comms applications.
