We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Medical Resourcing Officer to join our Medical Workforce Team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
This key role supports Care Group Managers and Directors to ensure the effective utilisation of medical workforce resources, maintaining safe staffing levels through efficient rota management and coordination of medical staff rotations and sourcing of medical locums.
Main duties
Supported by the Deputy Medical Workforce Manager, you will work collaboratively with the Centralised Recruitment team, Medical Education Team and Clinical Leads to ensure seamless processes for medical staff rotations and new starters. You will produce live rotas, re‑allocate staff to support service provision, and facilitate weekly rota reviews to identify gaps and minimise risks.
You will attend departmental operational meetings to communicate changes in rotas and deliver effective service provision.

Responsibilities
* Produce day‑to‑day live rotas using the Trust IT System.
* Re‑allocate medical staff to meet service needs and training requirements.
* Facilitate weekly rota reviews with Clinical Directors/Rota Leads to produce rotas at least 6 weeks in advance.
* Process leave requests and manage locum requirements.
* Attend departmental operational meetings to communicate rota changes.
Person specification
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths/English A‑C.
* NVQ Level 3 Business Administration/HR qualification or equivalent experience.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Experience
* Liaising with colleagues at all hierarchies.
* Managing sickness absence.
* Working with e‑rostering programmes.
* Previous HR/Medical Staffing experience preferred but not essential.
Skills and Knowledge
* Understanding of junior doctors’ hours regulations and guidance.
* Knowledge of staff roster management processes.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage positively with all levels.
* Ability to plan ahead, prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
* Good written communication skills for correspondence, reports and guidelines.
* Knowledge of Whitley Council & Medical & Dental Terms and Conditions of service.
Other
* Able to participate in the Medical Resource on‑call rota during weekends and bank holidays.
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy, challenging environment while meeting tight deadlines.
