Are you passionate about improving housing standards and making a real difference in your community? We’re looking for a dedicated Private Sector Housing Officer to join our team within a forward-thinking local authority in Lancashire.
🔍 About the Role:
As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe, healthy, and compliant housing across the borough. You’ll work with landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders to enforce housing legislation, carry out inspections, and support housing improvement initiatives.
✅ Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections of private rented properties under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
Investigate complaints and take enforcement action where necessary
Work with landlords to improve housing conditions and ensure compliance with housing legislation
Support initiatives to tackle empty homes and improve housing standards
Prepare reports, notices, and legal documentation as required
👤 About You:
Experience in private sector housing enforcement or a related field
In-depth knowledge of housing legislation and HHSRS
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
Relevant qualifications (e.g. EHORB registration or equivalent) desirable
