About This Role
Join Victoria’s Youth Justice custodial system at Malmsbury as an Education Coordinator. Your work will focus on managing education participation for young people, identifying individual needs and interests, coordinating engagement with providers, and supporting associated requirements.
In this role you will:
* Coordinate, facilitate and supervise structured activities and programs for young people related to employment, education (including trades) and vocational training.
* Coordinate and support the relationship between education providers and Youth Justice programs and industries.
* Assist in assessment of young people to determine suitability for distance education pathways and identify support and resource needs.
* Actively identify, refer and support young people’s participation in education, youth programs or employment, including linking them with distance education, vocational training or community providers, and providing coaching.
* Implement educational programs within Youth Justice curriculum standards and vocational pathways.
* Engage in care team meetings and implement strategies that address offending behaviour, reward pro‑social behaviour, and manage challenging behaviours and escalating issues.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience within an education environment (desirable).
* Commitment to working with staff, young people and service providers in delivering an integrated, whole‑of‑Justice approach to reducing re‑offending.
* Computer skills and a working knowledge of departmental computer and data systems (preferred).
