Salary: Negotiable and based on experience

At New Meaning Training's Stratford-upon-Avon centre, we provide an alternative, person-centred education for young people aged 16–25 who haven't thrived in traditional settings. Our learners often arrive with low confidence, anxiety, or disengagement from education, and many have additional needs such as EHCPs, autism, ADHD, or social emotional challenges. What makes the difference here is not just what we teach, but how we support each young person to rebuild confidence and move forward.
We're recruiting a SETPD Tutor to support learners through our Supported Employment, Training and Personal Development (SETPD) programme. Initially, this role will focus on delivery within our Creative Art & Design pathway. However, as learner needs and centre priorities evolve, the role may pivot to support other programmes across the centre. For this reason, we're less concerned with your background in a specific subject area, and more interested in your ability to engage learners, build strong relationships, and adapt your approach. This role would suit someone who enjoys finding creative ways to motivate young people, use practical activities to build confidence, and tailor learning to the individual — whatever the programme focus.
You'll deliver Functional Skills English and Maths (Entry Level 1–Level 2) alongside life skills and employability sessions. This might include supporting a learner to develop creative projects, write their first CV, practise communication skills, build independence, or gain the confidence to take part in group activities. This is more than a teaching role — it's about meeting young people where they are, encouraging progress at their pace, and helping them believe in what they can achieve.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Functional Skills English and Maths (Entry Level–Level 1) in a creative and supportive way
* Plan and lead SETPD sessions covering topics such as emotional wellbeing, communication, independence, digital skills, budgeting, and workplace preparation
* Create engaging, differentiated sessions for small groups of learners, tailoring your approach to a wide range of needs and learning styles
* Work collaboratively with other tutors and support staff to design and deliver schemes of work and session plans
* Build positive, trusting relationships with learners using trauma-informed and relational approaches
* Track and record learner progress and engagement against EHCP and programme goals
* Contribute to learner onboarding, induction, and regular reviews
* Support learner progression across flexible pathways (e.g., building confidence to transition from small group settings to more structured classroom or work environments)
* Travel between the Stratford-upon-Avon and Nuneaton centres may be required to support delivery.
About Us
New Meaning Training (NMT) offers education with a difference. We are an alternative education provider dedicated to helping young people aged 15–25 discover their strengths and develop the confidence and skills to earn their own living.
For the 2025–2026 academic year, around 300 young people from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, and Berkshire joined one of our programmes. Many of these learners are referred by secondary schools, pupil referral units, and Special Education Needs settings.
Our journey began in 2015 with the opening of our first centre in High Wycombe, originally known as "Toolshed." Ten years on, NMT continues to grow, with the most recent new centres opening in September 2025.
We have a range of programmes in our Stratford-upon-Avon centre including Creative Art & Design, Motor Mechanics and Sports. Up in Nuneaton we offer Construction Multi-skills, Motor Mechanics and soon we will be offering Community Care. All programmes incorporate functional skills qualifications in Maths and English, along with tutorials to support our well-rounded approach. We also provide a 'Transition Support' programme for young people with EHCPs who are not yet ready for a learning setting.
NMT tailors its programmes to meet the needs of its learners, considering Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We comprehensively apply the principles of a Loving Care Approach (Trauma-Informed Practice) to ensure all young people receive the support they need to thrive.
