Night Recovery Worker (South London) Location: Croydon Recovery House Working Hours: 37 (waking nights) Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £26,648 - £30,140 (pro-rata) Make a real difference in your community Croydon Recovery House is seeking two dedicated Night Recovery Workers to provide compassionate, recovery-focused support to individuals in mental health crisis during overnight hours. This is an essential role that ensures our residents feel safe, supported and heard throughout the night. As part of Waythrough (formerly Humankind and Richmond Fellowship), you’ll join a values-driven organisation committed to breaking down barriers and helping people live a life they value. About the Role As a Night Recovery Worker, you will provide continuous overnight support to residents, ensuring a therapeutic, safe and stable environment. You will carry out assessments, deliver brief interventions, monitor wellbeing, respond to crises and maintain accurate case records. You’ll work closely with the daytime team to ensure continuity of care and keep the service running smoothly around the clock. This is a waking night role—meaning you will remain on duty, alert and available to offer support at all times. What You’ll Do Provide emotional and practical support to residents throughout the night Conduct triage, screening and wellbeing assessments as needed Monitor risk and mental state, responding appropriately to crises or escalation Deliver brief 1:1 interventions and contribute to short-term recovery and safety planning Maintain accurate records, case notes and handover information for daytime teams Ensure the Crisis House remains safe, calm and therapeutic during night hours Liaise with mental health professionals, emergency services and partner agencies when required About You You remain calm, composed and supportive when working with individuals in distress You have experience working in mental health, crisis support, supported accommodation or similar environments You can assess risk, maintain clear boundaries and respond effectively to challenging situations You are comfortable working independently during night hours while remaining part of a collaborative team You are compassionate, non-judgmental and committed to delivering high-quality care You have strong communication and record-keeping skills You are adaptable and comfortable working weekend hours to meet service needs About Waythrough Formed in 2024 through the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship, Waythrough is now one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.
