Job Purpose The Senior Safety Assurance Manager is pivotal in the implementation of safety management activities within the Air Traffic Management environment across the En Route Centres of Swanwick and Prestwick. Activities will range from working with Air Traffic Management staff to resolve and manage day to day issues to having significant involvement in change projects from a safety and operational risk perspective. These activities ensure that the En Route Centres 'System' (people, procedures, airspace and equipment) meets its safety objectives, proactively addresses its key safety risks and that necessary assurance documentation is produced and maintained. This role will manage Safety Cases in accordance with the requirements of the NATS Safety Management System thereby maintaining approval to operate by the CAA Safety & Airspace Regulation Group. Key Accountabilities: Act as Centres Safety Assurance Acceptance Authority, providing critical review & approval of Safety Assurance Cases Provide guidance & support to operational and engineering staff on safety related matters Support Safety Improvement activities & provide advice & professional safety support to stakeholders, ensuring 'lessons learned' are communicated Manage hazard & safety assessments to ensure changes are properly assessed & planned Provide accurate picture of safety risk & performance. Ensure effective monitoring processes Maintain detailed knowledge of the Operational Systems in order to determine the safety impact of operational ATC & Engineering issues. Provide appropriate advice to Operating Authority enabling management of risk Maintain up to date knowledge of engineering & ATS principles & practice, safety standards Manage safety processes for system & human performance data. Collate Safety Performance metrics Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including Corporate & Technical Safety teams, other Units/Airports & the CAA Regulator Qualifications & Skills Numerate background; ideally a Engineering, Science, or Maths Degree and/or qualifications or experience in Safety Management Comprehensive knowledge of safety assessment Effective communicator with good interpersonal, persuasive & organisational skills Reports & papers are required with commensurate writing skills Presentation of data in spreadsheets/dashboards Lead, manage and support line reports in the efficient delivery of safety assurance We have adopted agile working to provide greater flexibility and increased choice over working arrangements.
