Casual Waste Operative - Manchester You will act as a key member of the waste team, providing waste and dirty linen collections, recycling duties and delivery of goods to all areas within the hospital. Main Assignments of Role Undertake collection of various waste streams including, hazardous, clinical, domestic, and recyclable wastes from all departments and buildings within the Trust including premises remote from the main site. Ensure the correct segregation of all the waste streams collected to meet the MFT waste Encourage recycling materials within your area of work. To remove clinical and non-clinical waste and laundry from departments as required. Drive electric tugs towing trains of bins and trailers within the site boundaries. Routine checks of electric tugs and waste handling equipment ensuring operational fitness, reporting any faults to the Waste Supervisor. Undertake minor repairs to waste bins and other equipment using a range of simple hand tools. Ensure security of waste bins before removal (e.g. not overfull, lid secured and locked). Immediately report any leaks from clinical waste bins and notify the Waste Supervisor, taking all appropriate sections prescribed in the safe systems of work documentation. Be conversant with the Safe Systems of Work procedures as they apply to the waste collection incidents. Operate waste handling plant and equipment and power-cleaning equipment. Transportation of clean and dirty linen, whilst operating within the Trust's policy on cross contamination rules. Comply with trust infection control policy. Clean waste bins and containers; plant rooms, plant, and machinery. Movement of materials and equipment. Respond to and complete tasks, schedules or by ad hoc request as per company policy. Identify and report all waste disposal problems including incorrect waste disposal & segregation by users and potential fire / security hazards. Receive and distribute goods adhering to MFT and Sodexo policies. Issuing & signing the correct documents for legal and internal processes to maintain an audit trail.
