Community Staff Nurse – Beckenham area – Band 5
Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
£36,943 – £44,900 Inc HCAS per annum pro rata
We are looking for Community Staff Nurses to join our dynamic, friendly team who are patient focused and thrive on providing quality care.
The Community Nurse role requires highly skilled procedures such as PICC lines and IVs, which are key to delivering excellent care.
All community nurses start at Band 5. After successfully completing defined clinical and non‑clinical competencies you will progress automatically to a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse position. From there a District Nursing course (subject to availability) is offered, and support is available for those who wish to pursue a District Nursing qualification. The career pathway offers apprenticeships, internal training programmes and opportunities to progress into developmental roles.
Applicants must have a current UK professional registration and a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle. A satnav is also required for safe travel between appointments.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Community Nurse you will work in patients’ own homes, providing a fully holistic approach to care. The role includes but is not limited to the following:
* Contributing to the holistic assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care.
* Implementing, monitoring and maintaining high standards of care.
* Re‑assessing and re‑evaluating programmes of care when needed.
* Being an active member of the team, sharing best practice whenever possible.
This is a challenging but rewarding position supported within teams and through regular reflection and professional training.
Shift patterns:
* 8.15 am – 4.15 pm
* 10.45 am – 6.45 pm
* One weekend in four
* Additional evening and weekend shifts if desired

Qualifications & Training
Essential
* Registered Nurse (Adult Branch)
* Current NMC Registration (or awaiting confirmation of qualification and registration at time of application)
* Preparation for mentorship/ENB 998 or equivalent, or willingness to undertake

Essential
* Experience of writing accurate records.
* Evidence of provision of high standards of clinical care.
* Valid driving licence and vehicle for work purposes.
Desirable
* Teaching and assessing skills.
* Care of older people.
* Experience in administration of drugs or willingness to attend study days.
* Knowledge of standard setting/clinical audit.
* Community experience or placement.
Specific Skills
Essential
* Good knowledge of basic clinical skills including wound care and assessment, catheterisation, medication administration and end‑of‑life care.
* Ability to document clinical records/findings correctly within NMC guidelines.
* Awareness of current government and nursing healthcare policy and legislation.
* Ability to undertake holistic patient assessments, implement appropriate nursing care and treatment and evaluate outcomes.
