About Our Client
Our client is a large-sized organisation within the industrial/Oil & Gas sector. With a global presence, they are noted for their commitment to safety, operational excellence, and sustainable practices. Based in Grangemouth, they are a significant player in the British industrial landscape.
Job Description
1. Provides process safety related technical design competence and guidance to the local area.
2. Develops and implements management strategies for non-compliance with legislative practices by identifying gaps and agreeing (with the Asset management) work programs to address and mitigate such gaps.
3. Leads the planning and implementation of the local Process Hazards Analysis programs including chairing PHAs and/or identifying appropriate resource to chair.
4. Leads/ participates in LOPAs (Level of Protection Analysis) reviews (in response to Asset or Project demand).
5. Leads Safety Engineering Reviews, PHSERs and pre-startup safety reviews in response to Asset or Project demand.
6. Supports the development and maintenance of the site-wide QRAs to form the basis of COMAH submissions.
7. Coaches/mentors less experienced engineers to ensure process safety issues are addressed as part of design and operational processes.
8. Manages the review and update of the local area COMAH reports to meet legislative requirements.
The Successful Applicant
1. Chartered chemical engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience in petrochemical, midstream, oil and gas, or refinery operations. Experience should be broad, with some exposure to projects, design, and operational environments (considering non-chartered applicants as well).
2. Strong technical skills, specifically in process safety.
3. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex systems and regulations.
4. Knowledge of risk assessment tools and the ability to interpret results.
5. Good understanding of human factors influencing process safety.
6. Excellent technical leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of guiding teams to consensus.
7. Ability to influence at all organizational levels, from senior management to technicians, and to clearly explain engineering decisions and rationale.
