Overview
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lincoln to assist with the appointment of an Assistant Finance Officer on a 6.5‑month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client’s discretion.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of Deputyship and Appointeeship clients and ensure the financial wellbeing of vulnerable adults lacking capacity.
* Conduct financial assessments and reviews, reconciling income, savings, assets, debts, and liabilities to establish accurate financial positions.
* Monitor and maintain clients’ state benefits, pensions, and other income sources, ensuring entitlements are maximised and changes in circumstances are reported promptly.
* Challenge straightforward benefit decisions where appropriate, and refer complex benefit matters to senior colleagues.
* Develop, implement, and review individual spending plans and administer personal spending allowances to ensure financial commitments are met.
* Arrange and oversee payment of client expenditure in accordance with approved financial plans and legal responsibilities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience managing financial affairs, benefits administration, welfare rights, debt management, or similar client‑focused financial support services.
* Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its application to financial decision‑making for vulnerable adults.
* Understanding of Deputyship, Appointeeship, or related financial management arrangements for adults lacking capacity.
* Experience carrying out financial assessments, budgeting, account reconciliation, and financial record keeping.
* Knowledge of welfare benefits, pensions, and entitlement processes.
