We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner (GP) to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse, a Category B men's prison and young offenders institution based in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool, Merseyside. Ideal applicants will have experience prescribing for and supporting patients with substance misuse needs. HMP Altcourse is a fast‑paced environment where you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality patient care.
Working Pattern & Salary
Tuesdays, 8 am – 9 pm
This position is part‑time: 3 sessions, 12 hours per week.
Salary: £114,763 – £125,135 per annum (FTE, dependent on experience).

Main Duties
* Deliver first‑class health care to a diverse group of patients, further developing your knowledge in areas you wouldn't usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, and make timely decisions regarding future management.
* Act as a highly specialist resource to other healthcare team members, actively involving patients in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements
* MBChB or MBBS.
* Included on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications.
