Position Summary

The Community Health Worker (CHW) Trainer will play a vital role in developing and delivering high-quality, culturally responsive training to prepare community members for CHW roles across Massachusetts. This includes curriculum design, facilitation of CHW core competency and job readiness training cohorts, supporting one-on-one job prep counseling, and organizing key program events such as onboarding and graduation. The CHW Trainer will also support recruitment, data tracking, and job placement activities in partnership with the broader program team.

This is a hybrid, full-time position based in downtown Boston.

- Responsibilities -

* Facilitate 4-6 (2-3x a year) CHW training cohorts per year
* Lead instruction on CHW core competencies and job readiness topics
* Adapt delivery for in-person, virtual, or hybrid formats as needed
* Refine, adapt, and update the 10-core competency curriculum in alignment with DPH guidelines
* Create and maintain engaging job readiness materials with a CHW focus

Individual Support & Job Preparation

* Provide one-on-one coaching for resume and cover letter development
* Conduct mock interviews to prepare trainees for job applications
* Support trainees in identifying preferred job types, work settings, and geographic locations
* Track, document, and address individual trainee needs for support services (e.g. language fluency, transportation access, etc).

Event Planning

* Plan and coordinate onboarding and orientation for each training cohort (e.g. Upwardly Global)
* Organize graduation celebrations to honor program completion

Recruitment & Community Engagement

* Support outreach and recruitment efforts to attract new trainees
* Represent the program at community events and with partner organizations

Program Administration

* Use Microsoft Office Suite to manage curriculum materials and documentation
* Utilize Monday.com to track program progress and manage workflow
* Maintain accurate data and reporting to ensure program success and efficiency

- Qualifications -

Required

* Experience facilitating or delivering training or instruction to adult learners
* Certified CHW or previous experience working as a Community Health Worker
* Strong communication skills, cultural humility, and the ability to model essential CHW soft skills like active listening, motivational interviewing, and setting client boundaries in real-world scenarios
* Experienced and fluent in MA CHW Core Compentencies
* Strong facilitation and interpersonal communication skills
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills
* Proficient with Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Sharepoint, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.

Preferred

* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent lived/professional experience
* Prior experience as a Community Health Worker
* Experience training in Job Readiness curriculum
* Experience in creating safe and supportive environments for discussing sensitive topics
* Experience delivering training virtually (e.g. Zoom) and in person
* Familiarity with Monday.com or other project management tools
* Event planning experience
* Bilingual or multilingual skills, a plus
* Hybrid position: In-office 2+ days/week and as needed for in-person training
* Office located in downtown Boston in a collaborative co-working space
* Occasional evening or weekend hours required during training cohorts or events
