Principal React Engineer Location: NI Hybrid ( 2 days in office ) Employment Type: Permanent Salary: 85-100k Hybrid: Yes Overview This is a senior technical leadership role for an experienced React engineer who can drive frontend architecture, deliver high performance user interfaces, and mentor engineering teams. You will take ownership of frontend direction, build scalable component libraries, and play a pivotal role in shaping modern UI engineering practices within a growing product organisation. The Opportunity In this position, you'll lead the evolution of a large scale React codebase used across multiple product lines. You'll work closely with product, UX and backend engineering teams to deliver intuitive, reliable interfaces that support complex business workflows. The role requires someone who is hands on, highly collaborative, and confident making architectural decisions that influence long term product strategy. What You'll Be Doing * Lead frontend architecture and establish engineering best practices * Drive React and TypeScript development across multiple teams * Build and maintain reusable component libraries and design system integrations * Work with product and UX to translate requirements into scalable UI solutions * Mentor and coach engineers, providing technical guidance and code review leadership * Improve frontend performance, accessibility and maintainability * Collaborate with backend teams to ensure seamless API integration * Push forward modern tooling, testing frameworks and CI/CD improvements * Contribute to longer term technical strategy and roadmap planning What You'll Bring * Extensive commercial experience working with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript * Proven record of leading frontend architecture at scale * Strong understanding of state management patterns, component-driven development and UI optimisation * Experience with design systems, Storybook or similar tooling * Knowledge of modern testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library or Cypress * Ability to mentor and develop engineering teams * Comfort collaborating in cross functional environments * Knack for simplifying complex workflows into clean, intuitive UI experiences * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Nice to Have * Experience with backend or full stack development * Familiarity with cloud environments, ideally AWS * Background in building applications for data heavy environments * Experience working in a product centric organisation How to Apply If you're a Principal-level React specialist interested in leading frontend engineering within a high impact environment, reach out directly to Ryan Quinn on LinkedIn for a confidential conversation.
