Band 6 Mental Health Pharmacist (Development Role to Band 7)

* To deliver a comprehensive medicines optimisation service to Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) patients and the multidisciplinary treatment team responsible for their care, in line with Trust policies, procedures and standards
* To develop the clinical knowledge and skills to practice competently as a foundation pharmacist under the Diploma in General Pharmacy PracticeTo deliver a safe, and effective dispensing and supply service to St Charles Hospital when required, as per rota.
* To deputise for other pharmacists in their absence.
* To work with Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technicians (MOPT) in the delivery of medicines reconciliation and discharge counselling.
This is a developmental role, and the postholder is expected to successfully complete the in-house Band 6 to 7 progression programme, which is typically completed within two years. Until the in-house Band 6 to 7 programme is successfully completed, the postholder will remain at Band 6. The postholder should also have commenced a postgraduate diploma programme before progressing to the Band 7 role.
Main duties of the job
* To provide a final accuracy check on prescriptions dispensed by pharmacy staff.
* To ensure that work is undertakenin accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
* To provide counselling to outpatients on their prescribed medication.
* To participatein the labelling, dispensing, checking and other processes involved with clinical trials medicine at St Charles Hospital in accordance with the standard operating procedures following a period of suitable training and accreditation.
* To participate in on call, late duty, weekend and bank holiday duties as per departmental rota

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Vocational Master\'s Degree in Pharmacy (4 years or equivalent) + One-year pre-registration training relevant to Hospital pharmacy Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* A post graduate certificate in mental health or general clinical pharmacy or equivalent or willing to working towards one
* Working towards higher Degree/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
* Working towards membership of the faculty of the RPSGB
Previous Experience
* Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate medicine related information to patients, carers and clinical staff
* Previous evaluated experience of mentorship and training skills
* To have undertaken clinical audit, training and education
* Recent significant and relevant experience in a Hospital Pharmacy.
* Experience in providing a clinical pharmacy service to mental health wards
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
* Demonstrates awareness of the clinical governance agenda
* Clinical and critical appraisal skills
* Communicates with medical, nursing, and other MDT & pharmacy staff in clear precise and appropriate manner.
* Evidence of writing procedures, guidelines or protocols.
* Knowledge of SystmOne
Personal Characteristics
* The ability and willingness to deputise for senior staff while recognising limitations of experience and ability
* Demonstrate ability to organise self in order to ensure efficient use of time.
