Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic individual as Head of Chair and CEO Office at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.
This pivotal role leads our corporate governance function, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory standards, and provides high-level support to the Board, Chair, and Chief Executive. You will manage the Board Assurance Framework, corporate risk registers, and oversee the private office operations. Acting as secretary to the Board and its committees, you will ensure seamless coordination of governance, risk, and executive support. This post is full-time, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00, with potential flexibility to meet the demands of the post. The postholder will be based at Kings Court 2, with travel across the two counties and occasional flexibility to work from home.

Main duties
The main duties of the role include coordinating the Chair and CEO’s private office, managing diaries, emails, and team oversight. Prepare and support Board and committee meetings, including agendas, minutes, and action tracking. Maintain the Board Assurance Framework and corporate risk registers. Provide governance advice and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory standards. Liaise with senior leaders, regulators, and external bodies. Lead a small team, promoting professionalism and development. Present complex information clearly and confidently. Manage budgets and ensure effective use of resources. Handle sensitive information with discretion. Support Board member induction and development.

Qualifications and experience
Qualifications
* Essential: Degree plus masters level qualification or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable
* Qualification in a relevant field, such as governance, risk or law.
Knowledge
* A good understanding of the health and social care environment and the roles and responsibilities within it and the NHS generally.
* Demonstrable advanced knowledge and experience of board structures and governance arrangements.
Experience
* Experience of operating in a complex organisation, leading on a portfolio area and building credible relationships
* Significant evidence of continued professional development, ideally in a specialist area of Board secretarial duties and/or governance
* Proven leadership experience
* Experience of managing corporate risk registers, board assurance frameworks and risk management in a healthcare setting
* Strong communication, strategic planning, and organisational skills
