Description At Fulham Football Club, we are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Assistant to support the Payroll Manager in delivering accurate and efficient payroll services across the Club. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a professional football environment, supporting payroll operations for a diverse workforce including players and club staff. The role requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and the confidence to challenge and verify information where necessary. Although our brand is most closely associated with Premier League football, the Fulham Group now comprises three main businesses: 1. Fulham Football Club, incorporating the First Team and Academy, with a staff of approximately 250 permanent employees and a large casual stewarding workforce on match days; 2. The Fulham Foundation, the Club’s official charity, which engages in a range of community work and has approximately 40 permanent staff and a large casual workforce; and 3. Fulham Pier, a new 365 day venue on the banks of the River Thames, comprising bars, restaurants, conference and events spaces, a hotel and a spa, which has around 30 permanent staff. The Payroll Assistant will report to the Payroll Manager. Requirements The role requires a diligent, detail-oriented team player who embraces challenges, demonstrates a strong capacity to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking an individual with the drive and capability not only to support the Payroll Manager but also to deputise in their absence. The following is a non-exhaustive list of the key responsibilities of the role: Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll for all employees, including players and club personnel Ensure accuracy across all payroll elements, including salaries, bonuses, deductions, and statutory payments Review, challenge, and verify payroll inputs to ensure compliance with internal processes and regulations Support the Payroll Manager in maintaining payroll records and documentation. Process payroll changes including new starters, leavers, and contractual amendments. Support the Payroll Manager in maintaining payroll records and documentation. Assist with the administration of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other deductions. Process new starters, leavers, and contract amendments accurately and on time. Liaise with HR and Finance to ensure payroll-related data is aligned. Handle payroll queries from employees, providing clear and timely responses. Assist in preparing payroll reports for senior management and auditors. Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR regulations in all payroll activities Reconciling and submitting pension file to pensions provider. Respond to payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner Work collaboratively with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operation Essential: • Significant experience in payroll processing within a complex organisation. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations. • Ability to challenge and validate payroll requests with confidence. • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pensions. • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel. • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines. • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Preferred: • Experience with Miracle payroll / Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Closing date for applications is Friday 12th June
