Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist to work with the Regional Homecare Lead Pharmacist to support the homecare provision across the East Midlands. This is a great opportunity for a pharmacy individual to help shape the East Midlands homecare services. This post will allow the successful candidate to operate on both a regional & national level helping to improve the services we offer to our patients If you have significant experience of leading and managing homecare services for patients & want to help improve the services delivered to our patients, then this will be the role for you. Main duties of the job To work with the Regional Homecare Lead Pharmacist to support the management and provision of homecare services across the East Midlands. This post would support the setting up and management of complex contracts for homecare medicines services supplying medicines, equipment and services to patients across the region through the operation of a robust, cost effective patient orientated supply chain. By ensuring effective procurement practices and efficient contract performance, the post holder will support performance improvement through the national KPI reporting and assist trusts to maximise cost effectiveness, quality of service and patient care and patient safety associated with the use of outsourced medicine services. The role holder will participate at a regional level in determining strategies and cost-effective long-term solutions for the procurement and management of outsourced homecare medicine services primarily by the hospital sector of the NHS. This will include participation in appropriate national working groups, networks and liaison with other regional posts. Person Specification Training and Qualifications Essential Specialist knowledge of pharmaceutical service procedures equivalent to Masters level, obtained through: Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Theoretical study (e.g. appropriate /Management qualification or on the pathway to complete), or portfolio demonstrating equivalent through experience, and relevant short courses/qualifications equivalent to Master's level Evidence of on-going Continuing Professional Development and learning. Desirable Membership of other organisations (e.g. APTUK, RPS etc) Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply CIPs Qualification or extensive experience of pharmacy procurement Experience Essential Extensive experience of pharmacy contract implementation and management Extensive knowledge and experience of Pharmacy Procurement and/or Homecare Medicines Services at NHS local or regional level within the East Midlands. Reviews medication incidents and reports regularly to clinical Governance teams with suggestions for service improvement. Experience of developing policies and procedures and practice information relevant to the pharmacy homecare services. Experience in teaching and training. Communication and Relationship Skills Essential Excellent communication skills, verbal and written to communicate with a broad spectrum of people (from senior managers to members of the public). Ability to influence senior & junior healthcare staff (pharmacy, medical, nursing staff and managers) e.g. therapeutic decisions. Demonstrable leadership skills Ability to work closely with regional networks in strategic planning of medicine usage Experience of supporting the introduction of new medicines by presenting appropriate information to the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee. Desirable Training in influencing and negotiating skills. Training in leadership skills Analytical and Judgement Skills Essential Evidence of evaluation of best practice - applies research findings and patient information to practice. Promotes evidence-based practice. Ensures compliance with relevant legislation, good practice guidance and local policy. Demonstrates advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement and is able to manage difficult and ambiguous problems. Desirable Communicates best practice outside the organisation. Experience / financial management skills and business planning Planning and Organisation Skills Essential Self-motivating with drive to develop services and motivate and inspire other members of the team. Ability to plan and coordinates clinical pharmacy services including monitoring of performance indicators and auditing of service delivery. Ability to assist with strategic planning for the development of medicines usage to meet national and local priorities and objectives.
