The role
As a Material and Inventory Planner, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to keep complex engineering and defence programmes running smoothly. From analysing demand and optimising stock to managing supply risks, your work directly supports our operational readiness and customer delivery.

1. Managing material planning orders and inventory through SAP and ERP systems
2. Analysing demand and aligning inventory levels to meet operational requirements
3. Expediting materials to ensure production and project schedules stay on track
4. Collaborating with project, production, and supply chain teams to enable delivery
5. Identifying and mitigating supply risks through forward planning and continuous improvement
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Material and Inventory Planner
6. Demonstrated experience in inventory planning and stock control techniques
7. Strong analytical thinking and organisational skills
8. Ability to take ownership of issues and drive them through to resolution
9. Understanding of continuous improvement principles
10. Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous
11. Experience using material planning systems such as MRP or MPS
Qualifications for the Material and Inventory Planner
12. Minimum Level 2 NVQ (or equivalent)
