We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and motivated Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join our team. The HSE Advisor will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and supporting the implementation of best practices across our operations in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in compliance with UK regulations and Metsä Group HSE standards.

• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify improvement opportunities.

• Monitor and support the implementation of improvement and corrective actions

• Support managers, site managers and shift leaders to develop their risk assessments and standard operating procedures (SOP)

• Deliver training and provide guidance to employees on Metsä Group HSE standards.

• Lead incident investigations and support others with their investigations

• Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics, and help develop strategies for continual improvement.

• Engage with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

• Support, and where required lead, Metsä Group HSE and sustainability strategy, initiatives, and projects.

• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes, and assist Metsä Group UK with compliance requirements.

• Maintain HSE records and ensure information is readily available and accessible.

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

• Experience in a similar role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

• In-depth knowledge of UK HSE regulations and best practices.

• Ability to advise on range of specialists areas (e.g. works at height, mobile plant, confined spaces, noise, manual handling, hazardous substances, fire, etc.)

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Good report writing and presentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)

Desirable Requirements

• Machinery Safety training.

• Internal auditor training

• Experience of certification or re-certification processes for ISO standards (e.g. 45001, 14001, 9001)

• Implementation of behavior change programs.
