Overview

12 Months Fixed Term Maternity cover - The post holder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient ophthalmic diagnostic services at Finchley Memorial Hospital and Wood green Diagnostic Centre. Working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role involves carrying out a range of ophthalmic clinical assessments to support patient care and clinical decision-making.


Responsibilities

* Undertake ophthalmic diagnostic tests including visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurement, visual fields, OCT scans, and ophthalmic imaging.
* Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients, adapting communication for individual needs.
* Record and update patient information accurately on electronic systems (e.g., Cerner / MediSIGHT).
* Maintain and clean diagnostic equipment, reporting faults as required.
* Support smooth clinic flow, including patient preparation and assistance where needed.
* Adhere to infection control, confidentiality, and health and safety policies at all times.
* Participate in training, audit, and teaching of junior staff and students when appropriate.
* Work collaboratively with the diagnostic hub team to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care.


Qualifications

* A basic understanding of ophthalmic terminology and patient history-taking is required; training will be provided.
