The Role
GAP Lifting Hire & Sales offers one of the largest ranges of lifting equipment and accessories in the industry. The TIC team is responsible for managing and scheduling the Test, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) of lifting and working at height equipment. The Lifting Equipment Engineer role is primarily site‑based and involves inspection, function testing, repair, and maintenance of lifting equipment, including proof load testing of runway beams, davit sockets, swing jibs, and lift shaft eyes. The role also includes basic installations, producing reports/certifications, and occasionally carrying out site surveys and advising customers on equipment selection. The TIC team supports the depot network by maintaining the hire fleet, upskilling members of the team, and providing bespoke solutions to lifting‑based queries.
Please note the ideal candidate will live in the Cumbria/Carlisle/Whitehaven area; candidates outside this area may also be considered.
About You
* Experience working as a Lifting Engineer/Fitter is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
* LEEA Qualifications highly desirable, including advanced programmes such as Runways & Crane Structures and/or Overhead Travelling Cranes.
* Ability to work on own initiative and support other team members.
* Customer‑focused approach and strong attention to detail.
* Valid driving licence essential.
