An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner to become part of the Radiotherapy and working with the SABR clinical oncology team at The Christie NHS FT Radiotherapy department based at the Withington site. Situated in south Manchester, The Christie NHS FT is the largest cancer treatment centre of its kind in Europe, seeing more than 40,000 patients a year. We are an international leader in cancer research and development.
Ideally educated to Masters level, you will be expected to practice autonomously at an advanced level with highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of lung oncology patients. As a lead specialist in a defined area of radiotherapy‑related care, the ACP (SABR Oncology) will formulate clinical decisions and complex treatment plans, manage acute and chronic illness, and respond to actual and potential health problems appropriately. The role includes history taking, systematic physical examination, requisition of appropriate clinical investigations, and the formulation and re‑evaluation of treatment plans. The post holder will also undertake contouring of tumour volume, organs at risk, nodal groups and radiotherapy treatment planning, and prescribe radiotherapy treatment.
Main duties of the job
You will be a key member of the clinical team, which includes Advanced Clinical Practitioners and will be part of a large cross‑trust multi‑disciplinary team. You will be involved in the clinical training and development of qualified AHPs, nurses and support staff. We are open to discussing a Band 7 training post for this role if you do not already possess the essential skills required.

Job responsibilities
Independent prescribing responsibilities support this practice. Strategic planning, education, research and audit are key components of the role. The post holder will exercise advanced clinical expertise, judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care, monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through supervision, clinical audit, evidence‑based care, teaching and supporting professional colleagues, and provide skilled professional leadership. The post holder will contribute to clinical governance and the implementation of relevant research into practice, thereby aiding service development. Professionalism in terms of attitude, communication and appearance at all times will be demonstrated, and personal standards of conduct and behaviour consistent with Trust and governing bodies guidelines and professional standards will be maintained.

* MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
