Joining us as an ESOL Tutor for the Hampshire Resettlement Community ESOL Project involves co-designing and delivering a 12-week programme of activities and classes aimed at engaging adult learners from the Hampshire Resettlement Schemes. These schemes provide safe and legal routes for those in need of protection, including the UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) and Afghan Schemes.
The project adopts a strength-based approach to offer suitable English language training to resettled adults who face barriers such as current proficiency levels, location, disability, or caring responsibilities.
Each 13-week programme cycle begins with Diagnostic English Capability Assessments conducted at learners' homes during the first week. Based on these assessments, the tutor collaborates with the Hampshire Resettlement and Support Service to plan, coordinate, and deliver tailored programmes aligned with each learner's individual learning plan.
Classes and activities may be scheduled during evenings and weekends to overcome barriers and promote engagement. These may take place in traditional classroom settings for groups or through one-on-one sessions during home visits.
The tutor is responsible for delivering services on time, within budget, and to agreed standards, as well as monitoring and evaluating programme effectiveness with stakeholders to support continuous improvement.
This role is part of the Global Resettlement Team within Adults Health and Care Commissioning, which is committed to commissioning high-quality services for Hampshire residents. The team values inclusivity and collaboration to enhance community outcomes.
Candidates should have a degree or equivalent qualification, hold an ESOL teaching qualification (e.g., Cambridge CELTA), and provide two professional references. An Enhanced DBS check will be part of the pre-employment process.
Applicants must be willing to travel across Hampshire, possess a current drivers' license, and have access to a reliable vehicle.
The working hours are within the core hours of 7am - 10pm, Monday to Saturday. Lone working and home visits are expected.
