Overview
Applications are invited for a Band 7 Clinical Scientist in Artificial Intelligence (AI) post at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
The post is to join the Clinical Scientific Computing (CSC) team, which consists of clinical scientists, AI engineers, data scientists, radiologists, clinicians, and programme managers, with close links to King's College London and nearby NHS Trusts. The postholder will provide dedicated support for a 12-month project that involves developing data engineering pipelines and effective communication with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* The postholder will have the opportunity to participate in every part of the software development lifecycle, work in multidisciplinary teams to design, develop and deliver digital solutions in the NHS, and help translate research into clinical practice.
* Work in multidisciplinary teams to design, develop and deliver digital solutions in the NHS, and learn about different project management styles, attend international and national conferences, and help support a national educational programme in clinical AI.
* The majority of the work is remote; the postholder must be able to work effectively under these conditions. The team works from an office one day per week and attends fortnightly in-person workshops in London.
* Contribute to the CSC team’s goals to improve access and quality of patient care across the Trust and the NHS.
* Engage in a team culture focused on openness, collaboration, and regular social and professional interactions, with opportunities for group events and continued learning.
* Support the development and deployment of Software As a Medical Device, machine learning operations, and data access/analysis infrastructure as part of ongoing projects.
Team/Environment
The CSC team is a small, dynamic group dedicated to translating clinical research into clinical practice across multiple departments. The team maintains a quality management system certified by the BSI, uses an in-house ML platform, and employs a DGX server for machine learning tasks.
