Support Worker / Teaching Assistant Role in South Gloucestershire
Do you have a background in teaching, care, coaching, or support roles? Have you recently graduated in Psychology, Education, or Health and Social Care? Are you looking to gain experience working in a SEND setting? If so, we may have opportunities for you to support children with additional needs in mainstream and specialist schools around South Gloucestershire.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with young people, encouraging learning and personal development. Your responsibilities include assisting teachers with tailored lessons, providing one-to-one support, and helping create a safe, positive learning environment. Compassion, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships are essential.
We welcome both experienced educators and individuals eager to gain vital experience. Working with Five Education, you'll benefit from training such as Makaton, PMLD Awareness, and Team Teach, along with dedicated support from your consultant, Kate.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Supporting students individually and in small groups using creative and engaging approaches.
2. Ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.
3. Helping students develop social and self-regulation skills.
4. Collaborating with teachers, SENCo, and staff to meet individual student needs.
5. Promoting socialization and positive behavior through encouragement and praise.
Essential Criteria:
1. Empathetic, patient, and interested in supporting children.
2. Available to work five days a week during term time, Monday-Friday, 8:30-15:30.
3. Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship or skilled worker visa accepted).
4. Minimum of two recent references covering the last two years.
5. Up-to-date DBS/police check or willingness to obtain one (costs may apply).
