W Talent are partnering with a heavy engineering business based in Otley, West Yorkshire, who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a variety of engineering projects and support the delivery of high-quality manufactured products. Key Responsibilities Produce models and manufacturing drawings from written specifications and concept designs. Support Design Managers and Project Engineers by delivering detailed design drawings within project timelines. Ensure accuracy and consistency of technical content across manufacturing drawings and bills of materials. Ensure all drawing construction and numbering adheres to internal drawing system standards. Work under the direction of the Project Engineer/Design Manager. Deliver manufacturing drawings on time in line with the project schedule. Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and aligned with production capabilities. Undertake occasional site visits for surveys or to resolve technical/engineering issues. Develop 3D models and produce/check manufacturing drawings for issue. Ensure complete and accurate bills of materials are produced. Escalate any critical mechanical design or safety concerns to the Project Engineer/Design Manager. Assist with investigations into errors and contribute to identifying root causes. Participate in design and production review meetings as required. Produce simple design calculations for approval. Carry out any additional duties appropriate to the role and business needs. Qualifications, Skills & Experience HNC or Degree in Mechanical, Product or Design Engineering. Experience using Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or other 3D design software. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills. Any experience in fabrication and sheet-metal design would prove highly advantageous but not essential.
