Halton's Planning Policy Team is looking for a motivated and experienced RTPI-qualified Principal Planning Policy Officer to join its dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a small and collaborative Planning Policy team, helping to shape the future growth and development of the borough. Key Responsibilities Act as the Council's lead adviser on planning policy matters, delivering key objectives and work programmes. Supervise and support Planning Policy Officers, providing guidance and allocating workloads. Lead multidisciplinary projects with support from the Lead Planning Policy Officer. Prepare and maintain Local Plan site assessments and supporting evidence. Apply NPPF and PPG guidance to develop, monitor, and review Local Plans. Commission and undertake research to inform planning policy and strategy. Engage with internal teams, partners, residents, and stakeholders throughout policy development. Develop, implement, and monitor planning strategies, policies, and action plans. About you: An RTPI-accredited Planning Degree and MRTPI membership. Proven experience delivering Local Plans from conception to adoption. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Strong knowledge of planning legislation, policy, and procedures. Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly. Experience engaging with communities and stakeholders to inform planning policy. Strong project management, organisational, and workload management skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to continuous professional development and supporting colleagues.
