The Role
The key aspects of this vital post are to be responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary flow team, incorporating operational, strategic, and quality aspects, along with the future development of the service. You will manage safe and effective patient flow across Raigmore Hospital / Inner Moray Firth Operational Unit, aligning with NHS Highland strategies.
You will ensure patients are placed in the most appropriate environment for their clinical needs, work to deliver Treatment Time Guarantee (TTG) for inpatients at Raigmore Hospital, and contribute to NHS Highland’s strategic review for bed utilization within Raigmore Hospital / Inner Moray Firth Operational Unit to promote safe and efficient patient flow. Additionally, you will promote NHS Highland’s Admission, Transfer, and Discharge policies and support clinical teams in embedding these policies.
The successful candidate must communicate a clear vision of service requirements and future plans, considering local and national agendas. Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective influencing and negotiating abilities, proven leadership, and complex decision-making experience are essential. Previous line management experience is required.
Applicants should have a relevant professional qualification, be educated to degree level, or have experience as a senior clinician (e.g., Team Lead, Senior Practitioner, Senior Staff Nurse, or Senior Charge Nurse in an acute hospital setting). A thorough understanding of patient flow principles and a patient-centered approach are necessary.
