Role: Programme Manager – English and Maths

Location: Corby, Wellingborough, Bedford, Shuttleworth and Dunstable vacancies available – Please state which campus you are applying for in your application.

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £40,000 and £46,349 per annum DOE and Qualifications, with a market supplement of up to £3,000 for successful candidates, 35 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking Programme Managers in English and Maths to join our Maths and English department at The Bedford College Group. Closing date is 30 July though please note we may close this vacancy earlier if the positions have been filled.

As a Programme Manager, you play an important role in the success of our students through:


* Curriculum Leadership & Strategy – Lead the delivery and development of English and Maths programmes, ensuring alignment with TBCG’s strategic goals and maintaining a student-centred approach.
* Quality Assurance & Student Outcomes – Monitor and improve teaching quality, student progress, and key performance indicators such as attendance, retention, achievement, and progression.
* Teaching & Learning Excellence – Deliver high-quality, inclusive lessons (9 hours/week), support curriculum innovation, and ensure teaching meets awarding body standards and industry relevance.
* Team Management & Development – Oversee staff performance, recruitment, and professional development, ensuring consistent implementation of College policies and curriculum strategies.
* College Engagement & Compliance – Represent the department at College and Group levels, support cross-campus activities, and uphold safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and training standards.

About You

* Qualifications & Professional Background – Hold a degree in a relevant subject or a vocational qualification at Level 3 or above in a related field, a recognised teaching qualification, and GCSEs in English and Maths
* Leadership & Management Experience – Demonstrate successful team leadership in Further Education, with the ability to set and achieve goals, manage performance, and lead curriculum development effectively.
* Teaching & Quality Assurance – Experienced in teaching across levels, using IT and data to monitor and improve outcomes, and knowledgeable in FE quality assurance systems and standards.
* Skills & Professional Conduct – Communicate confidently, build strong professional relationships, and consistently supports a high-quality, inclusive learning environment aligned with College values.
* Adaptability & Compliance – Work independently and under pressure, adapt to changing demands, uphold safeguarding and health and safety standards, and is flexible with working hours and locations.
