Job Summary
Are you an experienced communications professional looking for a varied role where you can make a real impact? Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for a Senior Communications Officer to support communications across its Research and Innovation (R&I) portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a breadth of projects, channels and audiences within one of the UKs largest NHS trusts. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term contract until January 2028.
Main Duties
You will play a key role in delivering internal and external communications activity that promotes clinical research and innovation taking place across the Trust and in collaboration with academic and industry partners. You will work closely with clinical teams, senior leaders and external partners to identify and share impactful stories and celebrate the Trust’s world‑class research and innovation.
Job Responsibilities
Support a broad and varied portfolio of research and innovation and develop your skills across media, digital, campaigns and internal communications. Provide proactive media relations, develop creative content to demonstrate the impact of research and innovation, and deliver a broad range of communications skills.
Qualifications
* Degree‑level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
* Experience in PR and media relations, including press release writing, handling enquiries and managing media opportunities
* Strong knowledge of digital communications and social media in a corporate environment
* Experience of managing website content using content management systems
* Excellent writing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into engaging content for different audiences
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
* Knowledge of clinical research communications is advantageous, but not essential
* Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement
