To deliver an efficient general mobile X‑Ray service to prison sites, working according to established policies and processes. The role supports the Clinical Lead Radiographer, ensuring exemplary patient, referrer and clinical team service. It involves performing general and specialised examinations while maintaining the highest professional, technical, ethical and governance standards.
Responsibilities
* Run the daily X‑Ray list and manage plain film workflow.
* Maintain X‑Ray safety, quality management of equipment and images.
* Record accurate patient data and perform statistical evaluation.
* Provide exceptional patient care and improve patient experience.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, plain film safety regulations and risk assessments.
* Vet X‑Ray requests and provide advice with the Clinical Director.
* Report equipment faults, liaise with engineers and oversee servicing.
* Participate in extended working days, bank holiday and rota shifts as required.
* Communicate urgent findings to clinicians promptly.
* Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
* Attend mandatory training, appraisals and maintain professional appearance.
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent HCPC‑approved qualification.
* HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
* Experience in performing general plain‑film X‑Ray examinations following IR(ME)R and local protocols.
* Sound understanding of radiation protection, image quality and patient care.
Experience
* A&E (Accident & Emergency) experience preferred.
* Member of the Society of Radiographers (desirable).
