Frimley Health Trust benefits on Vimeo Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities In this role, you will: Provide direct supervision to up to 200 housekeeping staff across clinical and non-clinical areas. Work collaboratively with a second Senior Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee all housekeeping services across both sites. Operate within a 24/7 service, supporting flexible working requirements including some evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Ensure compliance with national standards of healthcare cleanliness and uphold the Trust’s infection prevention measures. Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring all areas are adequately staffed, with accurate roster management aligned to budgeted hours. Offer technical advice and guidance to housekeeping teams, promoting safe and effective COSHH-compliant working practices. Support staff development through training, competency assessments and the Trust’s Individual Performance and Development Review (IPDR) process. Conduct regular internal audits and ensure timely action is taken to address any variance in cleaning standards. Maintain strong working relationships with clinical teams and attend relevant meetings to support continuous service improvement. Monitor departmental performance against agreed objectives and financial targets. Ensure robust processes are in place for the safe management of equipment, stock and property. Provide confident leadership to the supervisory team, promoting excellent communication, high morale and a positive culture. Assist in the introduction of new cleaning systems, equipment and technologies to enhance service delivery. Oversee the department in the absence of the Assistant Hotel Services Manager. Demonstrates strong leadership, communication and organisational skills. Has a thorough understanding of COSHH, infection control and health and safety requirements. Is proactive, adaptable and able to work confidently within a fast-paced 24/7 service environment. Can foster effective relationships with staff at all levels and contribute positively to a collaborative team culture. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Good basic education/GCSE level Professional Housekeeping experience Desirable criteria Achieved NVQ in Supervisor training Formal qualification in cleaning services Experience Essential criteria Relevant experience at supervisor level in the delivery of cleaning services. Experience of cleaning systems / procedures. Experience in working within a housekeeping setting Desirable criteria Experience in managing service issues and complaints. Previous experience in budget management. Skills and Knowledge Essential criteria Working knowledge of COSHH. Proven leadership skills to motivate individuals. Ability to build strong relationships with individuals and manage expectations. Desirable criteria Knowledge of NHS cleaning standards.
