Role Overview The Risk & Insurance Specialist plays a pivotal role in strengthening MVH Europe’s resilience and preparedness. Working closely with the Risk & Insurance Director, you’ll help ensure that risks are effectively managed, insurance programs are optimized, and business continuity plans are robust across our jurisdictions. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery — from risk assessment and insurance management to supporting M&A integration, claims, and business continuity planning. You’ll work cross-functionally across Operating Units, Group Functions, and Mars’ wider ecosystem, helping to embed a strong culture of risk awareness and accountability. Team: The Risk & Insurance Team supports all Operating Units and Group Functions with risk management including managing ERM processes, the corporate insurance portfolio and business continuity management. Function: The Legal Function is made up of three teams, Legal Affairs, Compliance and Risk & Insurance, which work together to provide legal, regulatory and risk support to the entire geographical footprint of Mars Veterinary Health Europe currently comprising four geographical Operating Units (UK & Ireland, Central Europe, North-West Europe and Mediterranean & CEE), made up of 19 jurisdictions. Key Responsibilities Risk & Insurance (Core) Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the organization’s risk management, insurance and business continuity frameworks, ensuring effective prevention and business continuity. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across all business units, collaborating with leaders to identify, analyse, and implement risk mitigation strategies. Oversee insurance policies, claims, and renewal processes, ensuring appropriate coverage, cost efficiency, and alignment with organizational needs. Support M&A activities by assessing insurance requirements and securing suitable coverage for new acquisitions. Maintain accurate records of risks, insurance policies, claims, and related documentation. Provide guidance, training, and support to stakeholders on risk management, insurance, and business continuity practices. Monitor the effectiveness of risk controls and treatments, recommending improvements to enhance organizational resilience. Support ad hoc risk management projects and liaise with external partners, including brokers, on insurance matters. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of risk management processes (including existing controls and treatments). Assisting with developing periodic risk reporting to MVH Europe Leadership Team. From time to time, liaising with AniCura’s brokers on insurance matters. Assisting with the insurance consolidation process across AniCura and the annual insurance renewal process. Assisting in the preparation of risk management and insurance budgets. Reviewing contracts, agreements and/or other legal documents to identify potential risks to inform contract clauses and/or indemnity levels Coordinating and responding to parent company’s information requests Assisting with the delivery of ad hoc projects and/or reports as requested by Leadership Team Summary of the Role Job Title: Risk & Insurance Specialist Department : Group Legal Reports To: Risk & Insurance Director Location: Amsterdam/Solihull/Munich/Madrid (Preferred) and Sweden Contract: Full-time Languages : Fluency in English (additional European languages are a plus) Required Skills & Expertise University degree in finance, business administration, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in risk management, insurance, or business continuity. Knowledge of ISO 31000 and familiarity with insurance and risk industry standards. Experience conducting risk assessments, managing insurances, or supporting audits and projects. Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence across functions and levels. Proficiency with Office 365 and comfort using risk management software/tools. Fluent in English; other European languages are an advantage. Key Competencies Adaptability & Resilience: Comfortable navigating complexity and change with calm and focus.
